Dropbox allows you to access your documents via the web and on multiple devices.
This is great for sharing documents to friends and colleagues.
iA Writer for Mac previously used the Dropbox Sync API but this has been deprecated by Dropbox. Version 3.1+ allows you to link iA Writer directly to your local Dropbox folder.

Please note that if your Dropbox folder is particularly large, it may overtax the Library indexing process resulting in slowdown of the app. If you see this occur we recommend adding only those folders which hold your text documents as locations in the Library. If you do not have a Dropbox account, please visit Dropbox.com. You can create an account here and download the client application for Mac.
As was the case with macOS, the Dropbox Sync API has been deprecated. While it is still available to use in iA Writer 5 until the end of 2017, we recommend accessing your Dropbox files through iOS11’s new Files interface:
Open…Any files opened this way are automatically added to the From Other Apps location in the Library. They are also indexed for Quick Search so you can find them in seconds.
Dropbox documents can be accessed at dropbox.com, which also keeps past versions.
