Purchase ≠ lifetime
Purchase is like buying software in a box. You get the current version, designed for a specific operating system and its version. Minor updates are free, while major updates may incur costs. The timeline for updates is uncertain. iA Writer experienced nearly a decade of free updates, so you might get lucky, or not.
How we work
We are a small indie outfit without investors, runway and other limiting constraints. Everything we do is 100% bootstrapped. While our products are available for purchase on the app stores, we want to offer direct sales and subscriptions to help us continue development across multiple platforms. Thank you for your support.
Prices and currencies
All our prices are in USD with regional adjustments, depending on the platform.
Use on multiple devices
You can use Writer across multiple devices of the same type, for example on your Windows computer at home and a work PC.
Beta testers

How returns work
If Writer is not for you or you bought it by mistake, please take a look at the refunds and cancellation policies for different platforms.
1. Subscription
Android: Cancellations for Android subscriptions are solely handled by Google via the Play Store. Find out more about cancelling subscriptions.
Subscriptions to Writer are not available for iPad, iPhone, Mac, and Windows.
2. Purchase
From the App Store: Purchases and refunds are solely handled by Apple via the App Store. Find out more about refunding App Store purchases.
Directly from us: Refunds are handled via our payment processor Stripe. Depending on the payment method and/or card issuer policies, it may take some time before you see your refund. You can get a full refund to the original payment method if you:
- Purchased Writer within the last 30 calendar days
- Provide the receipt or proof of purchase
