Below are answers to common questions about iA Writer for Android.

For further help, please check our Support section or our trouble shooting section. The iA Support Team is always happy to assist when you can’t find your answer on our website. You can reach out to us by email. We take a break on the weekends (JST), but during weekdays we aim to reply within 1-2 business days.

Sales and Refund

Same license for both Android and iOS?

It is a separate purchase, in the same way the Windows and Mac versions are distributed. You can learn more on our Pricing page.

Other distributors?

iA Writer for Android is distributed solely via the Google Play Store. If you cannot access the Play Store on your device, you will not be able to download the app.

Do you have a trial period?

Yes, we do! A 30-day, full-featured trial is now available for all users installing Writer for Android 3.0+.

Can I Get a Refund?

You may. To see if you are eligible and what steps to follow, please check our Refund Policy.

Discounts

Any discounts available?

Our distribution in Google Play Store does not support education pricing or any type of discount. Sorry about that.

Does iA Writer go on sales?

We do not provide any types of discounts. iA Writer won’t be on sale for Black Friday and we do not follow any campaign in general.

Google Play Store FAQ

Different Google Profile

iA Writer’s license is linked to your Google profile. If you are logged in with a different account, or multiple accounts, you won’t be able to find it in the Play Store.

Different regions/ country

Google Play doesn’t carry over purchases from other regions so you may not see it in your Purchased history if you’ve changed regions since you originally bought the app.

Can I use iA Writer on my Chromebook?

Although iA Writer for Android is designed and optimized for mobile, the app can be used on Chromebooks and tablets. Improving the user experience on additional devices is on our roadmap.

Can I re-install iA Writer?

To reinstall iA Writer on a new device you can access your App Library in the Google Play Store. Please, be sure to be on the same account/Gmail address that was used at the time of the purchase.

Roadmap and features

Do you have a roadmap?

We do not provide a roadmap nor give out timelines for unreleased features (beyond what has been publicly posted/commented on our blog). However, we do document and share feedback with the appropriate team members. If there is a feature request you would like to submit, please feel free to reach us by email.

What are the differences between platforms?

All our platforms are developed natively and differ slightly regarding the features provided. You can learn more about that on our Features page.

Is there a web version?

We developed our apps on each platform natively (iOS/ iPadOS, macOS, Android, Windows). We are not planning on developing a web-based version of iA Writer at the moment.

What languages are supported?

Our app for Android is currently localized* in En De Pt. Style Check is available for En De Fr. Writer uses Android System or Keyboard Spell Check and Autocorrect**

* the app’s interface is adapted depending on the country/ language of the user. ** Presence of 3rd party spelling and grammar tools/ plugins (i.e. Antidote, Grammarly) may impair the functionality of system options.

Technical questions

Supported OS?

iA Writer for Android 2.0.1+ is supported on Oreo (8.0)+. To allow us to focus on improving Writer and adding new features, we will consider dropping support for older operating systems once the majority of customers have migrated.

Redownload a previous version

You can access previously purchased/downloaded apps in the Google Play Store by navigating to My apps & games → Library. Please ensure that you are signed in with the same account as was used at the time of purchase.

Data Privacy

iA Inc does not have access to any of the user’s content stored in iA Writer (text, images, and other files displayed in iA Writer’s Library). We do collect only two types of data: Crash Reports and Anonymous Statistics. You can learn more about that in our Privacy Policy.
